Named for the famous local rock formation shaped like a Devil’s Head that lends it’s name to the Devil’s Gate Dam just down  the street in front of JPL,  this drink celebrates the Flintridge Foothills with the berries, basil and lemon and adds a bit of the Devil’s fire with the Serrano chili’s and peppery housemade ginger syrup.

THE DEVIL’S GATE

Muddle…

  • 1 Slice Serrano Pepper wheel
  • 3 blackberries
  • 2 leaves basil
  • 1/2 oz. Fresh Lemon Juice
  • 1/2 oz. Fresh Lime Juice
  • 1/2 oz. Fresh Lemon Juice
  • 3/4 oz. Lemongrass Syrup*
  • 3/4 oz. Ginger Syrup **

Add…

  • 2 oz. Gin

Shake vigorously.  Fine strain into Collins Glass with Ice.   Top with 2 oz. Club Soda.

* For Lemon Grass Syrup

  1. Weigh out 1000g water and add 100g chopped lemongrass.
  2. Place on stove and heat until boiling.
  3. Remove from stove immediately and let cool.
  4. Once cool, fine strain out the lemongrass.
  5. Add 1000g sugar and mix until dissolved. Lasts 1 month.

** For Ginger Syrup

  1. Combine 2 parts Ginger Juice, 2 Parts Sugar and 1 Part Water BY WEIGHT.
  2. Immersion Blend until sugar is completely dissolved. Lasts 1 month
